About me

My name’s Doug Bolton, and I’m a 25-year-old marketer.

I’m originally from Darlington in North East England, but moved to study an English BA at The University of Liverpool in 2011. Betraying my Northern roots entirely, I moved to London in September 2014, to start an MA in Interactive Journalism at City University. After some work experience and temporary positions at national and local newspapers, I started working at The Independent as a casual shift reporter towards the end of my degree. I was permanently hired after I handed in my last piece of coursework, and later became a technology and science reporter at the paper.

I left The Independent in May 2016, and in June left London and the UK entirely to move to Gothenburg, Sweden, where I began working in online marketing for UniCarriers Europe, an international manufacturer of forklift trucks. Here I focus on content creation, brand building and lead generation in my role as Content Specialist. I’ve also spent a lot of time improving my Swedish, which is now (reasonably) fluent.

In my spare time I like to run, cycle, swim outside (all year round, although preferably with a sauna involved) and write. And get better at Swedish of course.

If you want to get in touch, please do! You can find all my details on my contact page.
